Anne Rule Thompson is a ceramist based in Harpers Ferry, WV, making sculptural work both figurative and natural. Her figurative wall pieces focus on the figure’s interaction with nature, from dipping a hand into the creek to housing a bird’s egg. She also creates wall pieces that are square or rectangular panels invoking the visual and textural imagery of looking down on the earth from an aerial view.
With a background in painting, she came to sculpture as a way to ‘break the surface’.
She is the owner of Rivers Studio and Gallery in Harpers Ferry, and can often be found working in her studio adjacent to the gallery.
