Tim makes rustic twig furniture, primarily from rhododendron and ironwood from his family’s property in central WV. His eye for knots and curves leads him to one-of-a-kind designs for tables, chairs, barstools, beds, kitchen accessories, and other household furniture, as well as the beer taps for Big Timber Brewery.
“It all began the summer of 1998 as I was flipping through the Reader’s Digest Edition of ‘Back to Basics’. I found a section on rustic twig furniture. Later that day I went out to my backyard, which happened to be a forest, and cut a few trees that would become my first chair. For the next few years I made a number of pieces learning something new with each project I finished.”
While Tim started by exploring on his own, he took the ‘Twig Furniture Construction’ class at Augusta Heritage Festival in Elkins, WV, in July of 2001, and the following year assisted Tom Lynch in teaching the course.
His work can be found at regional festivals, as well as Charles Town Farmers Market.
