Kinnett, where every window frames a beautiful rural landscape. Doug interprets
the setting of his studio with paintings, block prints and clay tiles that burst

embellishes her sterling silver creations with 24K gold, pearls and semi-precious
stones. Rebecca Grace Jones will have on display her intricate, one-of-a-kind mixed
media wall pieces.

Sheila Brannan’s studio offers the best of both worlds, conveniently located within
walking distance of downtown Shepherdstown and surrounded by trees and fields. Her
glorious stained glass pieces all begin as original designs which are brought to
life with her use of pattern, texture, color and light. Equally delightful are Pat
Langerhans’ primitive folk-art cloth figures. These unique, hand-painted creations
are sure to bring a smile to all who see them.
From the 4-way stop (intersection of rts 480 and 45) in Shepherdstown, go 2 blocks

BLACKSMITHING WOOD CARVING.

The stop at Eric Johnson’s farm is an exciting country adventure with peacocks,
goats, geese, cattle and a flock of rare Tunis sheep. You will be able to see his
workspace, complete with glowing furnace, where he forges iron and steel into designs
which are both graceful and utilitarian. He will be joined by Nancy Streeter whose
hand-carved, native West Virginian animals and human busts seem to be alive in their
realism and detail.
From the intersection with Rt. 45 in Shepherdstown, take Route 480 South 4 miles.
Turn west (right) onto VanClevesville Road. Go one mile to 251 Southwood Drive,

A treat is in store for the pottery lover who visits Joy Bridy’s studio, located
on a charming homestead with her artful house and gardens nestled among dramatic
limestone outcroppings and a wood-fired kiln she built by hand. Find the perfect
bowl, mug or other functional piece in her collection of luscious and earthy ware.
Sharing in Joy’s intimate connection with the primary materials and forces of the
earth, is Bradley Sanders, an extraordinary silversmith, also at this stop. His
small, intriguing sculptures and refined jewelry reflect his life-long study of
the concepts of symbolism.
From the intersection with 45, in Shepherdstown, take 480 South four miles. Head

Sycamore Pottery is a quiet oasis in a busy world. You will travel along tree-lined
Bad Dog Road (no bad dogs in sight!), then take a short walk to the artists' studio.
Ren and Pam Parziale produce wheel-thrown stoneware and earthenware pots intended
for the table and kitchen. The shapes are pleasing to the hand and the surfaces
are decorated with brushwork that is elegant and sophisticated, reflecting their
40 years of experience. Other artists at this stop include Margot Ours who knits,
crochets and tats personal and interior décor pieces using traditional German quality
and excellence, Steve Adams, whose beautiful wooden bowls and free-form shapes are
made using only a hand adz, and Elaine Mosel, a fiber artist, who creates a variety
of items using colorful quilting and appliqué.
From intersection of Routes 9 and 480 (Kearneysville), go south on Route 1 towards
Leetown for 3 miles. Turn onto Paynes Ford Road at historical marker "The Bower."

BASKETS TEDDY BEARS GLASS & SILVER JEWELRY.

Anne Bowers describes her fascinating basketry as “strong, useful, beautiful, one-of-a-kind,
intricate and eclectic”. On display will be many new pieces utilizing her gift for
incorporating found objects, like deer antlers and old kitchen utensils. Anne’s
studio is on Cherry Hill Farm, immediately outside of Middleway proper. The 10-acre
farmstead, with its big, red barn, dates back to 1834 and is also the home to numerous
horses, chickens, cats. This setting is further enhanced by the opportunity to see
Treva Blackford’s delightful bears, bunnies and foxes made of mohair and Fran Brolle’s
dazzling sterling silver pendants, rings and bracelets with dichroic glass.
Located in the historic village of Middleway. From intersection of Routes 51 and
1, go 2/10 mile south of that intersection. Turn right onto North Street and follow

The brand new facility built by CraftWorks at Cool Spring is the most energy efficient
building in West Virginia to date. At this refreshing setting you will find the
work of three artists. Aundrea Humphreys, Art Director for the monthly magazine
The Observer of Jefferson County, is a renowned photographer who works strictly
with natural light. Her studio is the outdoors, where she captures the innermost
stories of people and places. Anne Rule-Thompson, the artist-in-residence at CraftWorks,
is inspired by people and nature and the relationship of the two on Earth. She creates
fascinating figurative work with metal and clay. The third artist, also using nature
as her subject, is Tara Bell, whose dream-like meditative circles in colored pencil,
are made into necklaces, paper pins and tree ornaments, as well as matted and framed
art.
From stop 6, head south on Mason Farm Dr toward Co Route 1/8/Grace St. Turn left
onto Co Route 1/8/Grace St, then take the 2nd right onto Co Route 1/Leetown Rd.
Continue to follow Co Route 1 for 4.6 mi. Turn left onto Co Route 13/Summit Point Rd

WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS WOOD SCULPTURES WEARABLE ART.

Mikkey Tarantino’s home studio is a sun-filled gallery where you will see many of
her original watercolors in progress. Her reality-based paintings, which sparkle
with color, depict everyday objects, often with a little twist. She will be hosting
Bruce Fransen, a wood artist extraordinaire. Bruce begins his sculptural wood pieces
with a log and a chainsaw and ends with a highly polished surface which enhances
the wood grain and gives a glass-like feel to the finished carving. The color and
movement in Susan Shildmyer’s free form, knitted garments provide for wearable art
at its best. Each piece is exquisitely finished and completely unique.
From Middleway, go south on Rt.l for miles. After the railroad tracks, turn left

CABINET MAKING PRINTMAKING/OIL PAINTINGS.

Step back into history and visit the oldest standing structure in what was the industrial
part of Charles Town back in the day. This is the furniture studio of Tom McGarry,
who reproduces 18th and 19th century designs, which are expertly built to last,
but have been lovingly antiqued to create a treasured heirloom. Thomas Miller is
our quintessential Jefferson County artist, specializing in local rural landscapes
and buildings with silk screen, collograph prints and oil paintings. His new night
scenes of commercial architecture are not to be missed.
